Phone calls are imperative! [Call for [livejournal.com profile] huge_ego_sry House]

After talking to Delia, Reid did some research and found out as much about her condition as possible without either being a doctor, talking to a doctor or seeing her files. It didn't take much to find the right phone number and he didn't feel bad when he called the head psychiatrist at the institution.

"Hi, this is Dr. Spencer Reid with the FBI. You've got a patient there named Dr. Greg House. It's imperative I speak with him."

Okay so it wasn't but he wanted to talk to the man about Delia and he was pretty sure that House wouldn't mind the interruption into whatever it was the institution had him doing at that moment. He was put on hold until House came on the line.

Pseudotumor cerebri. Well, it wasn't exactly groundbreaking or interesting in any way, but it did provide House with something to think about other than his roommate's increasing need to rhyme House's name with everything he could think of.

He tossed the little green ball in his hand a few times. "Aww, crappy meninges. Okay, so she's about 25, no kids? If her symptoms are getting worse, she's probably a big fat fatty by now. Get her to actually stay on a regimented diet - that means no cheating and heading to Krispy Kreme for a late night dozen. Then let her keep popping pills and tell her to have a nice short life."

House threw the ball a little too hard and missed the catch, sending it bouncing everywhere, knocking over files and books and earning House a very stern look from his favorite orderly. He just grinned and shrugged.

Reid had been around House long enough to figure him out somewhat. He knew he was being an ass because well...he was an ass. He also knew what pertinent information to give House.

"She's not fat. Slender, average weight."

Of course she wasn't fat. House was happy that he didn't have to pull more quantifiable information about her weight out of Reid and it contributed to his asking for further help.

"You want me to take this case? I'm going to need you to fax me as much medical history as you can get out of her - I don't want old stuff. If you really need to, put my staff at Princeton to work. I want an MRI and I'm assuming she's had regular ophthalmologic exams. I'll need those too." He was pretty sure Reid would follow his instruction - the man probably knew this patient and was calling in a favor for her. He'd want to help her get results.

"I c-can have Garcia pull every medical file she's ever had and send it to you," Reid answered. It was easier than bothering Delia and she'd already given him permission to talk to House. This just made everything faster.

"Whatever you have to do to get me what I need. When can I expect it? I have a very busy schedule talking to mutes and play hand-pong," he said. House was satisfied with Reid's substitution as odd an occurrence as that was. Eventually though, he wanted his own scans done.

"Let me ask Garcia," Reid answered. He put House on hold for a second, switched over to call Garcia. He talked to her for a moment then switched back to House. "About an hour? Maybe less."

Reid figured if House wanted his own scans done, he'd arrange it or tell him how to arrange it and with who.

"Call me back tomorrow, same time. I'll let you know what I find." House grabbed the large bouncy ball again and chucked it at the door to let Lerch know he was finishing up.

"O-okay," Reid answered. "Garcia is putting my cell number on the fax if you need to c-call me before then. Th-thanks."

"You're welcome, Reid. Thanks for the case." House's reply was oddly polite -- he was too preoccupied with being happy about having something to focus on to waste his energy being a dick.

He replaced the phone on the hook and hobbled to the door, pressed his mouth up against it and puffed his cheeks out. They wanted to put House in an institution? He'd act like he belonged.
