Intervention [RP with [livejournal.com profile] so_lessfragile Hanna Carmichael]

Reid was sitting at a table outside the coffee shop waiting for Hanna to show up. They'd pre arranged to meet here. In his head he was trying to decide what the best approach was. Clearly, Hanna was mentally unstable but the only person he'd ever had to intervene in their lives directly because of that had been his mother. He couldn't exactly commit Hanna. She'd have to do that herself. He had time to make those sort of decisions though. Right now he was going to have his coffee and wait for her to show up.

"Alright, if you'll take me back to my apartment, let me grab my gun and some clothes," Reid agreed. He didn't think she was actually going to show him anything out of the ordinary but whatever she did show him, he wanted to be ready for.

Hanna smiled and stood. She gulped the rest of her coffee down then said, "Fine by me, let's go."

Reid picked up his coffee and stood up, waiting for Hanna to stand before they started out of the coffee shop. He looked down the street. "Where did you park?"

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hanna walked right out of the coffee shop and headed toward her car. She hoped Reid followed. "Right here," she said, opening the drivers side door. Before she got in she said, "Get in. Then tell me how to get to your place. I wanna be on the road as soon as possible."

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Reid got in the car and shut the door. He gave her directions, the most direct route to his place. "It won't take me long to grab things," he assured her, tucking his hair behind one ear. Now that he was actually taking steps to go somewhere with her, he was a little nervous.

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
They were on the road in seconds. Hanna found his apartment easy enough. "I'll wait here. No need for me to go up there with you." she said. She wondered how smart this actual was to be taking a suvillian, just a regular innocent, on a hunt. He said he had a gun, but did he know how to use it? Not only that, guns were useless with demons. She really hoped she wasn't making a really stupid mistake.

Reid jogged up to his apartment and grabbed the bag he kept packed for work. His gun and his badge were in the safe. Those went in the bag. He picked up a couple of books, stuck them in the bag. He glanced around the apartment to make sure he wasn't leaving anything. He scribbled a note to JJ, knowing she'd probably be the one to check on him if he disappeared.

Went on a trip with a woman named Hanna Carmichael. Shouldn't be gone more than a couple of days

He went back downstairs, put the bag in the back of Hanna's car and got in the passenger seat. "Ready when you are."

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Hanna nodded and set the car in motion. She wasn't sure how long it would take to get to Seaford. She wasn't used to driving with other people. She just hoped he didn't have to pee too damn much. "I'm going to warn you now, Reid, so you don't freak out later. And I know you think I'm mentally unstable but just hear me out. What we're going to see, what we're going to hunt, are demons. One... or possibly more. Don't get freaked out, alright? Just follow my lead and it'll be fine." Yea, he totally thinks I'm a nutjob, she thought.

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mentally unstable is how he would have worded it but yeah, pretty much he thought she was a nutjob. Right now he figured the best he could do was go along with her, try to keep her from killing whoever she perceived to be demons and put a call into Hotch when he had probable cause.

"I'm an SSA for the BAU. I don't look-We have to take firearm certification every year, keep up with target class."

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I see..." she said. Inside she was having a little freak out, though she was keeping her cool face on on the outside. Leave it to her to pick up a fed. A fucking fed. I am so, so very screwed... she thought.

"We're not killing the demon, by the way. The demon takes a vessel, a host body, if you will. The demon possesses a human. Now, if we can detain the demon into a devil's trap and perform the right exorcism, the body will be fine. Unless of course the demon fucked it up before hand... either way, we aren't looking to hurt the body. Becasue even if we were to shoot it, it would do no good." Hanna had to say anything to get this fed from thinking she was a killer. In all honesty she was a killer, but not the run of th mill kind. She killed bad things.

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Reid watched her, brow furrowed and carefully thought about her words.

"Don't you need a priest for that? And there should be medical personnel..." All accounts of 'real' exorcisms he'd read were extremely dangerous for the possessed person.

Not that he thought she was stable or doing anything except telling the truth as she believed it--and she did whole heartedly believe it. She was exhibiting none of the signs a person lying would exhibit.

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hanna laughed. "No way. Just the right latin ritual, a devils trap and we're all set. More people there would only get in the way." Which was true, if you were dealing with a single demon, but if there was more, like Hanna expected to be the case in Seaford, it would be good to have a few extra people on hand. But not no medical personel. She was talkin' hunters. But that was obviously not in the cards. All she had was some fed that thought she was a nutjob.

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huh," Reid responded, brow furrowing a little deeper.

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hanna pursed her lips, annoyed. "What's huh supposed to mean?"

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"No...I just-" Reid stopped and started. "At the BAU, we've had a couple of cases with ritual exorcisms. The people performing the exorcisms always claim to want to save the person, expel the demon. It never works out that way though. The possessed person ends up dead."

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hanna rolled her eyes. Stupid wannabe hunters fucking everything up once again. "That's because they're not real hunters or real rituals. Did the person have black eyes? When the exorcism was over did black smoke fly out of the possessed person's mouth? No. That's becuase it's a bullshit exorsicm. Probably some poor person that was sick of following the church and so everyone thought they were possessed."

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Reid didn't do shock so much as he just got more troubled looking, brow furrowing up more, eyes narrowing as he thought. He tucked his hair behind his ear again.

"They were all dead when we found them. Except the last girl and she was-he'd broken her out of a mental facility."

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hanna rolled her eyes once again. How was she going to convince him that those "exorcisms" that he had heard of and investigated were fake? "That's my point. No demon is stupid enough to get themselves committed. And if they did get themselves into a mental facility it would be because they have some motive behind it."

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"If they're possessing the person...they can't really help what's done with the person by other people...can they?" Reid asked. He still wasn't buying into the whole deal but he needed to know what he was walking into and what her thoughts on the whole thing were.

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"The demon controls the vessel. The person's... essence if you will, is still there, inside, but they can't do anything. All they can do is watch what the demon does to other people. Is that what you mean?" Hanna sighed. It was difficult explaining demon lore to someone who not only knew nothing but thought what he knew was the truth.

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Reid thought about what she was saying, trying to compare it to other delusionals they'd studied. She didn't want to be held responsible for some of the things she'd done or that others had done. In her delusional, she could lay all the blame on the demon. Or someone could at least.

"You're saying the demon can control what the human does but I'm asking if it can control outside forces. For example, if the demon possessed the person, could he or she keep the parents of the child it possessed from committing it."

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
He was totally going to commit her after so she figured she'd just dig her crazy grave deeper. "They don't stick around if they have a job to do. They find some poor bastard to possess and leave. Or they pretend to be that person. The person usually just simply goes missing. Thoese missing persons that are never found? Probably a demon possession. Those random dead bodies found that have no evidence linking to any killer? Probably a demon." They just drove past Deleware state lines. They'd be in Seaford in no time.

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"W-well sometimes we find the bodies of m-missing people," he stammered, a little unnerved by the whole idea. She had a point. There were missing people that they never found.

[identity profile] so-lessfragile.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hanna nodded. "But did you ever find the killer? Was there any evidence? Or were they just dumped? It's demons. Black eyed sons of bitches. And there are people like me out there trying to stop them; trying to save the people we can."

[identity profile] yes-imagenius.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"S-sometimes," Reid admitted. "We usually solve our cases but there are cold cases out there." It wasn't something anyone in his profession liked to admit.
