[Reid pokes at the communication device a moment, brow furrowed as he tries to figure it out. Finally the video flickers on and Reid is staring down at it. He's dressed in a button down shirt, tie and grandpa cardigan sweater. He's also leaning on a cane. He's nervous but managing to keep his cool. Reid is working at keeping his mind off the last time he was kidnapped. This isn't the same, he thinks to himself. He's not tied up. Maybe this isn't a kidnapping. Maybe...]

Uhm...I-I'm Dr. Spencer Reid with the FBI. I d-don't know who you are or where this is but someone will be coming for me. If you'd like to t-talk, you haven't done anything w-wrong yet. I'm not hurt. You need to talk to me n-now because holding a federal agent against his will is a crime.

I have seen the book... it is not the same, but there are similarities. For example, many of the characters are present, such as the Queen of Hearts and the Dormouse, but the Mansion itself does not seem to relate to the story.

Haaaaa... I also do not recall any memory loss or sentient reflections in the story.

[he pauses, taking some brief notes on the conversation at the back of his processor]

Hnn... What if I already know my target's identity, but not where he will strike next? What should I look for?

N-no but sentient, dark mirror images is an idea that goes back a long time.

[Reid considers that a moment]

You have to look at their habits, their history and their psychology as well as the victims they take. If they're ashamed, they're going to pick somewhere hidden from sight. If they're boastful and daring someone to find out, they're going to pick somewhere more public. If the crime is sentimental, it's going to be some place sentimental.

It is? I was unaware.

I see... perhaps I will have to invest more time in studying his behaviour. Haseo could be useful after all...

...Ah, well, if there is anything else you would like to ask, I would be happy to answer to the best of my ability. I have gathered plenty of data in my time here.

It goes back as far as the 17th century in literature.

Who's Haseo?

Th-thank you.

Ah. Haseo is... [a long pause. Haseo and Kite's relationship is anything but simple, if all the mistaken identity, attempts to kill eachother, and total lack of communication is any sign. And they're supposed to be fighting on the same side, even.]

.............

He is an acquaintance from my world.

And you are welcome.

[In that pause, Reid realizes the relationship between the two is a bit more complicated than that but he just nods]

Okay.
